Make Some Holiday $$$: Online Surveys

Online surveys can be another great way to put a couple of extra dollars in your pocket over the holiday season. Some sites take several weeks to credit your points for a survey and you usually need to do several surveys before you have enough points to cash out. Don't wait until mid-December to get started! Surveys tend to go in cycles, sometimes I receive a lot of them (early fall, early spring are usually good times to get alot of surveys as companies are looking for feedback on new product lines).
Here are some of my favourite survey sites that are completely legit:
If you have any questions feel free to ask and remember that if something seems too good to be true it probably is so be careful with your personal info. Do you have any favourite survey sites?

Make Some Holiday $$$: Lindsay Mom2Mom Sale Christmas Edition

I have just started working on a series of weekly posts on how to earn some extra cash for the holidays. One fabulous way is to destash some of your gently used items (especially kids clothing and toys). There are many ways to do this including a Mom2Mom sale. The bonus to a sale such as this is that it is high traffic and so you can unload ALOT of items in a short amount of time without having to juggle babies on your hip while you try to take pictures of your items and post them on an online buy and sell site (which does have its advantages too but that's a later post). Also proceeds from the sale (admission and table fees) go towards helping a great cause.

I'm happy to announce that there will be a Christmas Edition of the Lindsay Mom2Mom Sale to be held on November 10th from 930-1230 at the Lindsay Boys and Girls Club. Mom Tables for selling gently used clothing and toys are $10 each and if you are a local artisan there are also vendor spots available for just $35. Your table fee also includes lunch (pizza and pop) for one person. Spaces are limited so be sure to contact the show organizer ASAP if you are interested in a space. You can email her at smthshan@hotmail.com.

My Grocery List Week of Oct5-11

If you've been following along on my grocery budget challenge then you will know that ON AVERAGE I have managed to stick to approx. $65/week. Some weeks were a little more and some a little less. This week, however, there are some great deals (like peanut butter) that I don't want to pass up. One thing to keep in mind when sticking to a budget like this is to plan ahead. I KNOW that we use a lot of peanut butter so by stocking up when it is on sale for a great price it will filter through to help me save on my budget in later week's/months.
Here's my shopping list for this week to go with our meal plan. Tentative total: $86.81 +taxes (if I manage to get a turkey)

Food Basics:

    • Turkey- SALE 88cents/lb (since its already mid-morning of Fri I'm not sure if there will even be any left by the time I get there but I have my fingers crossed, this would be for a week in Nov. anyways so there's always time to revamp the plan if they are out)
    • 2xCake mixes 88cents each
    • 2x canned pumpkin $1.30each
    • Burger Buns $2
    • 2lbs sweet potatos 88cents/lb
    • cheese slices $2.49
    • 2lbs apples 88cents/lb
    • can of diced tomatos $1
    • Tostitos $1.97
    • case of pop $4.77-$2 coupon
    • 2x Peanut Butter $2.49each
    • Total: $33.09(with turkey)
    Shoppers Drugmart
    • Milk x2- $8.40
    • Coffee Cream $1.98
    • Rice Side 99cents
    • Total: $11.37
    Loblaws:
    Nesbitt's Meat Shop:
    • 1.5lbs medium ground beef $4.50(ish)
    • 2lbs lean ground beef $8
    • 2 butterfly pork chops $6 (but WELL worth it!)
    • Total: $18.50
    Rexall:
    •  3xWheat Thins -$1.49-3x50cents off tearpad coupons
    • Total: $2.97
    Walmart:

    Recipe: Easy Peasy Pizza Pockets

I had originally intended on using my Tenderflake for these (if you are following along with my weekly meal plan and grocery list you would find it on there) but since the chocolate crescents weren't part of the sale I decided to give the weiner wraps a try. My kids like the McCain Pizza Pockets which are more doughy as opposed to flaky anyways so I thought this might be a closer match. I'm sure you could use your own homemade dough as well but for those who are still looking for a frugal and fast fix (not to mention they are a bit better for you then the frozen kind) these were FABULOUS! My little guy helped me to assemble them and thought it was tons of fun!

    Ingredients:
    *Tomato sauce
    *Shredded cheese
    *Veggies of choice
*Meat of choice (I used leftover roasted chicken today)
*One tube of Pillsbury Weiner Wraps

    Instructions:
*Unroll and seperate dough on a cookie sheet
*Spread each dough section with tomato sauce
*Top with shredded cheese veggies and meat
*Fold over to make a pocket (I pinched the edges on some and not on others and both methods worked out fine)
*Bake in preheated 375degree oven for 13-16 minutes.
